Reports to: Director, Finance

Classification: Full-time

Compensation: $45,000 to $55,000 per year

Purpose:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities in accordance with GAAP.

Responsibilities:

  • Makes decisions regarding bookkeeping and accounting processes following established policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP
  • Reconcile bank accounts.
  • Participate in month-end closings and prepare monthly reconciliations of assigned accounts.
  • Prepares and analyzes journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Evaluate coding of expenses to ensure optimal use of restricted resources.
  • Maintain fixed asset files and schedules.
  • Perform monthly variance to budget analysis on assigned accounts
  • Assist in the preparation monthly financial statements
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
  • Prepare monthly sales tax returns
  • Support the annual financial audit
  • Support the annual budget process
  • Assist in the development and implementation of systems and procedures as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Director. 
  • Maintain accurate records supporting journal entries and accounts.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues

  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills which must be effective and courteous, requiring high integrity when dealing with a broad array of backgrounds.

  • Commitment to mission and values-driven work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Preferred proficiency with Quickbooks
