Revitalize Communities

How Neighborhood Revitalization Works

Communities thrive when surrounded by safety and stability. Fox Cities Habitat works alongside residents, community partners, faith partners and other service groups to revitalize community spaces, homes, schools and buildings needing improvement.

By making repairs affordable, neighborhood revitalization is tailored to each neighborhood and the overall goals of the communities in the Fox Cities region.

Each Neighborhood is Unique

Every neighborhood revitalization project looks different. It’s about evaluating unique challenges and figuring out the fixes. While landscaping, park and common area clean up, exterior painting, and replacing roofing and siding are often part of the neighborhood revitalization plan, there is so much more to do.

We see an opportunity to enhance the curb appeal, safety and beauty of an area and we partner with residents and volunteers to address it.

Rock the Block Impact

Fox Cities Habitat’s Rock the Block program hosts neighborhood revitalization events throughout the year offering team building opportunities for neighbors, volunteers, communities and company employees.

As the results below show, neighborhoods participating in the Rock the Block program are safer, more stable and more valuable to both the community and homeowners.

Strengthening Neighborhoods with
Affordable Home Repair

Our neighborhood revitalization efforts go beyond Rock the Block events. Homes in need of critical repairs with plumbing, electrical issues, foundation work and hazardous materials are often addressed through our Home Repair program.

Habitat’s Home Repair program:

  • Addresses critical interior and exterior repairs
  • Focuses on eliminating code violations
  • Promotes safe and healthy homes
  • Improves the structural security of the home

Access to these home repair services and affordable materials are due to our generous donors and skilled volunteers. Homeowners pay for materials and labor through a 0% interest deferred loan.

“I’m just so appreciative of everything, it’s unreal that so many people come together for Rock the Block. I broke my leg earlier and I haven’t been able to make the improvements I need to on my home. I also don’t make enough on my own to replace my siding, porch and windows. Habitat for Humanity’s Rock the Block program is helping me make these upgrades that I wouldn’t be able to do otherwise.”
