Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response

Updated as of 6/12/2020 10:30 am

Thank you to all our customers, donors, volunteers, and staff, for your continued patience and cooperation while we continue to learn and adjust to serve our community. We remain dedicated to our goal of keeping all of you safe while you work, shop, and drop off donations. We are grateful for your continued support.

Retail hours are Tuesday – Friday 10am to 6pm; Saturday 9am to 5pm. The stores will remain closed Sundays & Mondays. We also lifted the temporary safety measure prohibiting children under 16 in the store. Face masks are still required at this time for all staff, volunteers, and customers. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

We will continue accepting no-contact curbside drop-off donations at both locations Tuesday – Saturday 11am to 3pm. We suggest calling ahead for donation drop-off, as we may already be at capacity. This will allow time & space to safely process incoming donations.

We are grateful for your patience, support, and building our community together! We will continue to share the operational hour changes if any, for subsequent weeks. Please continue to follow our standard protocols we have in place.

We are grateful for your support and patience. We are navigating uncharted waters and finding our way to the “new normal.” We are all working very hard to get back to our standard hours, but are taking necessary time to accommodate additional requirements needed to keep our staff, volunteers, and customers safe.

Appleton’s ReStores are open for shopping Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. until June 13.
We are also accepting no-contact curbside drop off donations during this time. No donations will be accepted on May 29.

If physically going to the ReStore is something shoppers are uncomfortable with, community members are encouraged to go on its website to make a purchase.

Last but not least, funds raised through purchases or financial donations online continue to help our Habitat families who work on the front lines, stocking shelves, preparing and delivering food, working in critical childcare, and serving in clinics and hospitals to take care of everyone. This year, we have launched our EVERY NAIL. EVERY DOLLAR campaign with generous anonymous donors who have agreed to match every dollar donated by July 15, 2020. It is our hope to meet and exceed our goal to help 17 families this year. You touch and have touched many lives and you have affected ours. You make a difference. “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” (Dr. Seuss). Together, once again, we will continue our mission for the greater good. We simply want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that have been touched by yours.

Although we are still physically closed, we continue to impact families, homes, and each other…

You Can Shop ReStore Online!

As ever with this pandemic, things are changing at a moment’s notice. The good news is that we continue to help Habitat families through this crisis, continue to provide educational training to our families, offer affordable home improvement items for sale in a safe way, have our dedicated construction team, our heroes, to help build homes for our families. We are working very hard to navigate our path to reopening safely.

Because we are primarily volunteer-operated, the safety of our community, volunteer, and staff is of utmost priority. We thank you for providing valuable feedback and we appreciate your patience. Although Fox Cities Habitat and Habitat physical ReStore remain closed, we have launched our online store with a curbside pick-up to help support the community. In addition, if there are specific items you are looking for and do not see on our online store, we encourage you to contact us at EAST ReStore at 920-968-7567 and WEST ReStore at 920-968-7299. We are as eager as you to re-open the ReStore, and we will inform you as soon as possible when that date is set. Thanks again for your patience. Stay safe and well.

A message from Greater Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity CEO, John Weyenberg.

More than ever, we are all seeing how critical it is to have a safe, decent and affordable place to call home. We are facing new challenges every day but know that we will get through these difficult times together.

Our top priority is always the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, partners and the people we serve. We stay abreast of the latest and most up-to-date information to make our decisions considering the health, safety, economic, financial and other impacts of these decisions.

Our business functions continue to evaluate current activities, plan contingency steps and prepare for future circumstances, within strict safety and health guidelines. Because of this, our plan of action will continue to change as well.

Currently, our office and ReStores are closed to the public and we continue to keep our volunteers at home. We have also postponed the community projects planned for Rock the Block in Waupaca until it is safe to engage the public in those activities.

We are committed to re-engaging with our volunteers and community face-to-face when it is safe to do so. We will share those dates once confirmed.

Despite these changes, we remain fully committed to our mission and our staff. We will continue to provide meaningful work for our employees. We have identified areas where we can continue certain construction operations without jeopardizing the health and safety or our employees or the general public. Very soon, you will be able to purchase essential products from our ReStores on-line with no physical contact and curb-side pickup.

If you were planning on volunteering, donating to Habitat ReStore, or supporting Fox Cities Habitat in any way, we invite you to support our mission by making a donation today.

Fox Cities Habitat has always been driven by community support. With your help, we know that this support will continue because of our shared belief that everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home.

A message and update from our CEO,  John Weyenberg, on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

Our priority is always to support the health and safety of our people — and to take a calm and informed approach to address this challenging situation. In addition to the previous decisions made to close the Fox Cities Habitat Affiliate office and the ReStores to the public, we have ceased in-store ReStore operations as of March 26 and will cease all construction work as of Saturday, March 28. We are taking this unprecedented step in order to protect our staff, volunteers, donors and customers, the families we seek to serve and the community that we love.

Fox Cities Habitat is currently working on many critical projects and initiatives – building and preserving homes, closing on real estate projects and breaking ground on others! This disruption to our workflow will most certainly affect our families. Those we seek to serve are already vulnerable; many of them in positions at the forefront of the crisis, health care workers, civil servants, service sector employees; those to whom a missed paycheck can mean catastrophe.

During this time, I ask that if you had intended to give to Fox Cities Habitat – if you intended to volunteer, to visit the ReStore, or to donate – that you show your support with a donation now,  to keep us building a better community as we face down this pandemic.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and we will re-open our office, our sites and our ReStores as soon as it is safe to do so.

Please remember to follow recommended health and hygiene protocols as established by the Center of Disease Control (CDC) at and seek up-to-date information on the status of the outbreak, and health resources available to you and your family.

With so much underway, there are bound to be questions from our constituents. If you need to get in touch with someone from Habitat Fox Cities for any reason, please see additional information below.

As organizers around the community cancel or postpone upcoming large events, we have made the decision to postpone the following until further notice:

  • Rock the Block Waupaca
  • Home dedications
  • Home Builders Association of the Fox Cities event at the ReStore

For any questions please  contact Amy McGowan, Director of Development at 920-378-8613 or

Volunteer shifts, activities and meetings are currently on hold until further notice. If you’d like to discuss further, please feel free to contact Jodi Isom, Director of Volunteer Services at 920-967-8882 or

We will not be accepting donations or selling items through our stores until further notice. For other questions about the ReStore, email Andy Scheiderer (ReStore East Manager) at or Amy Graber (ReStore West Manager) at

Thank you for your continued support of Greater Fox Cities Habitat!

Be careful out there and be well,

John Weyenberg
President & Chief Executive Officer

𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗯 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘂𝗽 & 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆!

Working on DIY projects or doing some redecorating? Habitat ReStore currently has modern and trendy home décor, tables, mirrors, paint and more available to shop online and then either pickup or have delivered.

Simply go to MARKETPLACE on Facebook and order what you’d like to purchase. Check back often as new items are added daily! Anything you purchase funds our Habitat mission. Don’t hesitate to call our ReStore Appleton West at 920-968-7299 AND ReStore Appleton East at 920-968-7567.

In addition, we encourage you to go on our website to donate. We will use those funds to help our Habitat families who work front line, stocking shelves, preparing and delivering food, working in critical childcare, and even serving in clinics and hospitals to take care of everyone. They are doing this while paying increased childcare costs while schools remain closed. Please help us help them during this time if you can.

We continue to keep abreast with the ever-changing situation related to COVID-19 pandemic. This is impacting each of our communities differently. But no matter where people are, the growing long-term adverse impact on the Habitat organization overall, and the economic shock is putting households at risk of foreclosure or eviction. We are seeking your support in two areas:

  1. Email your representative and senators NOW to urge them that any stimulus package must include resources to ensure families and individuals have a stable place to call home during these uncertain times. See link
  2. Also, we will continue to communicate our activities through Social Media platforms! At your convenience, don’t hesitate to participate on Social Media by sharing, commenting, conversing, liking and/or simply engaging with us overall.

In addition, although we have currently closed our ReStores to the public, we continue to sell many items online on Facebook Marketplace and also support drop-offs or pick-ups by appointment while respecting social distancing. There will be somebody at the store to manage the logistics at curb side. So don’t hesitate to call the ReStores if you need additional information.

We are sincerely appreciative for your support and generous heart!

As communicated earlier, we have closed our main office at 921 Midway Rd. in Menasha to the public as of March 17. You can still drop off any mail or documents through our mailbox or locked white box for payments or donations. In addition, please feel free to contact our staff via email (click on their name for email link):

In the meantime, while our office and our ReStores will not be open to the public, please know that our Fox Cities Habitat for Humanity team is continuing to work to drive our mission forward.

We are constantly monitoring the situation and will provide update here as they become available.

Last updated: March 16, 2020 at 4:45 p.m.

Beyond all else, our highest priority is the health and safety of our entire Fox Cities Habitat community – staff, clients, volunteers, supporters, and all our neighbors across Wisconsin.

Effective from Tuesday, March 17 through Tuesday, March 31, at the earliest, we will be taking the actions below. We will use this time to prepare for future phases beyond March 31. Additional steps will be evaluated and communicated.

The following actions will go into effect:

  1. We are cancelling all volunteer shifts. This is for all types of volunteers (office, worksites, ReStore, etc.). This decision was made to protect the health of our volunteers who are our one of our most vital assets. We understand this will have an impact on operations, but we remain committed to health and safety being our #1 priority.
  2. We are closing to the public our main office at 921 Midway Rd. Menasha. You can still drop off any mail or documents through our mailbox or the white box. In addition, please feel free to contact our staff via email:
  1. Our two ReStores will remain open during normal business hours operated entirely by staff until further notice. We will continue to pick up donations from homes and businesses as we’re able. This will be done by staff and we will not enter homes to get any donations. Donors will continue to be able to drop off donations at both locations.

We continue to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance by devoting to clean our retail stores more frequently while emphasizing the areas commonly touched. We have clear guidelines for hand washing and provide additional hand sanitizer stations in our stores.

Thank you for your continued support of Greater Fox Cities Habitat!
