Title: Business Operations Specialist
Reports to: Director, Human Resources
Classification: Part-time
Compensation: $25.00 per hour
Purpose
The Business Operations Specialist will proactively seek opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency of all processes, procedures, and programs within the organization; and help to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Make decisions related to business operation improvement opportunities within the organization keeping the Director of Human Resources informed and seeking advice as needed.
- Lead, as directed, continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.
- Develop and handle business operations improvement plans for projects, reaching and sustaining project goals.
- Partner with staff to tactically implement continuous improvement principles to solve challenging problems, apply the right tool sets, standardize, and sustain performance.
- Effectively facilitate teams through problem solving and creative thinking to accomplish short-term and long-term goals.
- Facilitate strategic Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Quick-Hit projects from definition through execution. Coordinate cross-functional resources for these events and communicate the results throughout the organization.
- Develop and deliver training to all levels of organization, as needed. Build the skills of all leaders and team members through hands-on interactions and personal mentoring in lean management tools.
- Develop strong, positive, and lasting relationships with staff and volunteers throughout the organization.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
Required skills and experience:
- 4+ years of experience with business process improvement
- Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ-CQE strongly preferred.
- Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt required.
- Previous facilitator and coaching experiences where problem solving, process development and/or behavior change methods and tools have been used
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make sound judgments, assume responsibility and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities and attend to all details in a timely and professional manner.
