A truly special group of donors make up our Golden Hammer Society—a dedicated group of legacy donors who include Fox Cities Habitat in their will or estate plans. Their generosity ensures that we can continue providing safe, affordable homes for families in our community for generations to come. 

This January, we had the joy of celebrating the home dedication of Juan, Josefina, and their children as they received the keys to their new home. Their dream became a reality thanks to Golden Hammer members Jane Barnetzke and Kermit Frahm, whose legacy gift made this home possible. 

Before the dedication, we had the privilege of speaking with LuAnn, Jane’s best friend, about Jane’s deep connection to Fox Cities Habitat and her involvement in the Golden Hammer Society. To see her interview and hear more about their story, watch the video below!

Jane and LuAnn first met in 2013 while volunteering at the ReStore, where they quickly became close friends, dedicating their Tuesdays to serving together. Jane was known for her kindness, intelligence, and welcoming spirit. She made every volunteer and customer feel appreciated. Jane’s commitment to Habitat extended beyond her time at the ReStore. With a talent for numbers, she helped out in Habitat’s Almost Home program, and as a skilled sewer, she created beautiful quilts to donate to families and the ReStore. Habitat was more than just a cause to Jane; it was a community she loved. It came as no surprise to LuAnn when she learned that Jane had chosen to continue her impact through the Golden Hammer Society’s Legacy Giving. 

Jane truly understood the life-changing power of safe, affordable housing. LuAnn shared that Jane was always inspired by the hard work and dedication Habitat families put into earning their homes. Reflecting on the dedication, LuAnn said with confidence, “She knows, and she is thrilled for this family.” 

Jane’s legacy lives on, not just in the home she helped make possible, but in the lives she touched and the community she built.
