Intern Spotlight | Grace Arrowood

Hi, my name is Grace Arrowood and I am the Volunteer Services intern with the ReStore. I just moved to Oshkosh a year ago from Germantown, WI to pursue a Nursing degree at UW Oshkosh. However, my short lived nursing career ended up in pursuing a Human Services Leadership degree in search of a career in nonprofits.
I decided to intern with Habitat because I am involved with the campus chapter at UWO, in fact, I am now on the executive board as a member at large (like a vice president). For my degree I have to do two internships and I thought it would be awesome to intern here and get a behind the scenes look of what it takes to run a successful Habitat for Humanity.
When I am not involved with Habitat and the ReStore I am working full time at Lakeside Packaging Plus which is a facility for adults with disabilities to come and work for the day. We also do day services with a group such as crafts, music, reading etc. I love it and it’s so rewarding. I also go to school full time so I don’t have much free time but when it’s available I either volunteer with the campus chapter or spend my time reading and watching Netflix.
What I enjoy most about Habitat are the people you meet and friendships that are formed. I have also done a few construction build days and those are so much fun. You really learn a lot about building and you also get your hands dirty! Everyone is so much fun and helpful at those.
I am really looking forward to learning more about Habitat and recruiting new people to join our team!
