During this annual event, Mid-Day Women’s Alliance partners with a local nonprofit organization in an effort to raise both awareness and funds for the organization. This year’s event will benefit Habitat for Humanity’s 25th Annual Women Build Project.
Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program empowers women to take a proactive step in serving our community by building and renovating homes to support women and children in poor living conditions. Mid-Day Women’s Alliance members have participated in Women Build for many years, creating wonderful volunteer, networking, and friend raising opportunities!
In 2018, the 25th anniversary of Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity, Women Build will sponsor an entire home that will be built in partnership with a family with a female head of household. For the family, this is a hand up – not a hand out. The home buyer will complete over 300 hours of “sweat equity” learning construction and home repair skills, and will take over 55 hours of education classes to prepare to be a successful homeowner. Habitat home buyers pay a mortgage, property taxes and homeowner’s insurance just like we do. Habitat keeps the cost of the home affordable by using donated materials and volunteer labor wherever possible.
Proceeds from the Black and Pink Ball will support Women Build. In addition, Exit Elite Realty, through a grant they were awarded through Exit Realty Corp. International, is also offering a donation match of up to $37,500. So the funds raised through the Black and Pink Ball will be doubled with this match!
