I grew up in Neenah, second daughter to a funeral director and spent many a holiday at the funeral home when my grandparents lived above it. I’m second to a sister that’s 11 years my senior, and I love reminding her of that often. After graduating fro UWO I moved to Wyoming and volunteered with the AmeriCorps VISTA program, where I discovered my love of non profit work. I’m currently employed as the ReStore Volunteer Manager.
What made you decide to work with Habitat?
After my Wyoming term, I moved back to Neenah and ended up opting for a second VISTA term at the ReStore in Appleton. I don’t know what I did right, but that was over 8 years ago and I’m still here!
When not at Habitat, what do you do? (other volunteering, hobbies, work, etc.)?
I enjoy volunteering with the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade in Neenah. I am also a member of Neenah Rotary Club where I serve as the Youth Exchange Officer, serve on the World Affairs and Uncorked committees, and also serve as Outbound Assistant for District 6270 outbound exchange students (those leaving Wisconsin to spend a year abroad). I also adore practicing and teaching power vinyasa yoga, as well as attempting at least 1 half marathon a year.
What do you enjoy most about Habitat (what work do you like most, what keeps you coming back, etc.)?
I enjoy playing a small role in helping to improve someone’s life and livelihood. Being able to work directly with volunteers is the biggest perk I can fathom.
