Thank you for the very warm welcome back this summer. I’m quite excited to be here working with you all again! Here is a little more about me and why I work with you all.
For starters, I am 18 years old and I have spent most of my life in the wonderful state of Wisconsin with my family of five. I have an older brother and an older sister and really great parents. My childhood was defined largely by running around outside with the neighborhood kids, playing soccer, learning the guitar, helping my dad with projects, and participating in church activities. I went to Appleton North High School and graduated just over a year ago. I’ve just finished my first year at Moody Bible Institute studying to work in the Christian ministry and I am very excited about the next three years of school. In the fall I will be studying abroad in Greece for the semester taking my Church history courses and philosophy (I’m really excited!). As to what I want to do in the Christian ministry, that is a mystery, but my faith is very important to me and it would be a joy to spend my career serving the Lord.
I started volunteering with Habitat at the beginning of my senior year of high school (2015) in the afternoons. I was given work release at noon and I knew Rod Voland, a former construction supervisor, from church, so I became his ‘intern’ of sorts. I quickly began to love working on the homes and at the ReStore. All the people on the Senior Crew are gold and really make this organization great. After spending my afternoons in the school year volunteering, the staff was gracious and hired me on full time for the summer. Last summer I did a lot of warehouse work and training for driving and site supervising. This summer I’m back! Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays you can usually find me at the warehouse or out with the driving crew. Tuesdays and Thursdays I am out on site. I love working with all you people and I learn new things every day. I am quite blessed to work at Habitat for Humanity!
Thanks for taking the time to hear a little bit more about me. I’ll be looking forward to seeing you all around!
