My name is Mai Xiong and I’m the mother of five wonderful children age range from five to fifteen years old. My children and I are very excited to be a part of the Habitat Family. When I received the phone call that Habitat approved my application, it was such good news. My children were all happy as well.
So far the journey with Habitat has been wonderful. Everyone that I come across is kind and caring. I am amazed and happy at the support level that Habitat gives to the families from start to finish and continue support if any of the families should reach out for help.
When I first saw the Habitat flyer many years ago, I never thought that I would someday apply for a Habitat home but here I am today completing my biography for this program.
Life is good when all is going well, however, there are times in life when we are in the valley and need others to come along our side and give support. I feel that Habitat for Humanity does just that. By Habitat building or rehab a home for a family, it is more than just a place to live. A home is a place for families to make memories, for children to grow up happily and feel safe and so much more.
Due to family situations, my children and I now live with my mother in a 3 bedroom house. Space is tight, especially when you have teenagers in the house as teens like to have their own space. My children are excited to know that they can help build towards the 300 volunteer hours.
We are thankful for everything that God has provided and will continue to provide. Being approved for Habitat for Humanity is a blessing. We look forward to either build or rehab a home with Habitat. May God bless all the staffs, volunteers and financial contributors, without you I would not be here typing my bio.
