Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity hosted its annual Celebration of Partnership event last week to celebrate the homeowners, volunteers and partnerships of 2016.

The organization handed out four Volunteer Excellence Awards. Awards went to the Deconstruction Volunteer Team, Fred and Nancy Umland and Barry O’Connor. Volunteer of the Year went to Doug Gilbert, a volunteer whose tenure with Fox Cities Habitat dates back 20+ years.

Two Community Partnership Awards honored partnerships with the Homebuilders Association of the Fox Cities for their work on Habitat’s Builders Blitz build in June and United Way Fox Cities for their support of Rock the Block programming.

For the first time in Fox Cities Habitat’s history, Community Partner of the Year was awarded to an individual. The award was presented to Mary Beth Nienhaus for her kindness and generosity to not only the Habitat for Humanity organization but to her extensive work in strengthening local communities.
