Thank You to our Retiring Board Members

As a thank you for the time and dedication spent during their time on our Board of Directions, Fox Cities Habitat dedicates a home in each members honor. We want to extend a great big THANK YOU to our three retiring board members of 2016. Below are a few words shared about their service at each dedication:

Tara Perre | Thrivent Financial
Board of Directors, Outreach Committee

TaraWe couldn’t have imagined a better home to dedicate in honor of Tara Perre. First, Tara serves as the Manager of Consulting and Field Communications for Thrivent Financial and has been a connecting bridge with one of our longest and most generous donors.

Secondly, this family’s determination through adversity and focus on the bigger picture is one of the gifts Tara has given in her time with the Board and on our Outreach Committee.

The last few years was truly a time of growth for our organization as a whole. We had a lot of directions we could go and needed to be strategic in our plans. Tara’s valuable strategic insights played a large role in many of our decisions that have really helped guide the direction of our affiliate.

The Outreach Committee also benefitted greatly from Tara’s experience and big picture thinking. During brainstorming sessions and discussions, she was always the one to re-center the group and ask the question, “What is our mission? What are our goals?”. Tara’s guidance always keeps the committee focused on what is important and what is necessary to meet our goals.

We are blessed for the time you’ve spent on our board and cannot thank you enough for your support.

Doug Hahn | Menn Law Firm
Board of Directors, Mortgage Stewardship Committee

DougDoug has served on our board for 6 years. During that time, he has been our primary legal counsel. He has donated literally hundreds of hours to pro bono legal support to our affiliate.

He was one of the original members of our Mortgage Stewardship committee and served as the chair of that committee for several years. We now have the lowest delinquency rate in the country for an affiliate of our size or larger. Doug has played a key role in helping us achieve that!

He has drafted and reviewed countless numbers of policies and procedures that have helped our organization during this time of rapid growth and new ventures.

He has helped some of our volunteers draft estate plans to include Habitat for Humanity as a beneficiary to leave a legacy to the mission they love so dearly.

Thank you so much Doug for sharing your expertise, your precious time and your many talents with Habitat as a crucial member of our Board of Directors. It is our great pleasure to honor you today.

Dick Maronek | Retired, Integrity Mutual
Board of Directors, Building Committee, Senior Crew

DickDick began volunteering with Habitat in 2004 after his retirement and has since accumulated over 3000 hours volunteering in a variety of ways, but his volunteer focus has been as part of our Fabulous Senior Crew, leading construction activities.

Dick joined our Board of Directors in 2010 as our Senior Crew representative. He also became the chairperson of the building committee that same year. During his service on both, Dick helped to guide our affiliate during years of rapid growth.

Dick is a true believer in training and improving processes. During his many years on our senior crew, Dick has served as a dedicated site leader, overseeing the work happening at new construction projects, rehab and home repair projects as well as Rock the Block events. He was also part of a crucial team who volunteered at our Appleton ReStore during the startup years. Dick is always on the lookout for how things can be done better and more efficiently and his expertise in these areas has been a tremendous help to streamline our processes.
